Mission Log:
Add 5 daily Objectives (tasks/goals/chores) to the Mission Log to be completed each day. Visit www.GameplanIRL.com for some ideas! Pre-determine if this will include weekends or just weekdays.
- If including weekends: Each completed objective is worth 1 XP. A maximum of 5 XP can be earned per day. Once you reach 35 XP, you earn an Achievement Card.
- If NOT including weekends: Each completed objective is worth 1 XP. A maximum of 5 XP can be earned per day. Once you reach 25 XP, you earn an Achievement Card.
Achievement Cards:
There are 3 ways to play this card:
- Add the reward to the Achievement card at set up, keep it as is so the player knows what reward they're working towards.
- Add the reward to the Achievement card at set up, cover with a scratch off sticker for the player to unveil once the achievement card is earned.
- Add the reward to the Achievement card at set up, cover with a scratch off sticker to hide it and then put the reward of choice into a blind bag for the player to open once the achievement card is earned.
This gives families the flexibility to reward their child based on what motivates them best!
The reward can be big, small, monetary, an experience, a privilege, etc. Visit www.GameplanIRL.com for some ideas.
Respawn, Reboot, Cheat Code and Side Quest Cards:
These will be utilized during the game and do not need to be pre-filled at set up like the Achievement cards. Tuck these away to use as needed (if needed).
Card Types
- Achievement Card (4) – The reward card! Earned at 25XP or 35 XP depending on if weekends are played or not. Redeemable for a reward.
- Reboot Card (4) – The consequence card. Used to remove all XP earned in current mission (week) due to poor behavior, attitude or rule breaking. Consider using sparingly, if at all. Gameplan IRL is designed to enforce positive habits while making them fun, but actions do have consequences.
- Respawn Card (4) – The second chance card. Allows the player to catch up on missed XP or retry an incomplete objective. There are only 4 included, use them wisely Player!
- Cheat Code Card (2) – The cheat card. This card allows the player to skip ONE objective while still earning XP. There are only 2 included, use them VERY wisely Player!
- Side Quest Card (4) – The bonus card. Optional bonus objectives. These can be used to allow the player to earn additional XP (if they’ve fallen behind) or just complete a random act of kindness. More often than not, the biggest and best reward is how you make others feel or what positive impact you can make. Visit www.GameplanIRL.com for ideas!
- Mission Protocol Card (1) - This is just a quick reference for the card types :)
- IRL System Override Card (1) - Attached to the Commander Briefing, designed to tear off and tuck away. This is for adult use only. This card allows the adult to override any Gameplan IRL rule using the acces code ("because I said so"). If chaos ensues, activate this card as needed. Consider using sparingly, following the rules and sticking to the Gameplan is most fun BUT sometimes, life doesn't go according to plan AND THAT'S OK.
How to Play
- Each day, complete as many of your listed objectives as possible to earn XP.
- Mark completed objectives and total the earned XP daily on the Mission Log.
- Once you reach 35 XP (or 25 XP if not including weekends), collect an “Achievement” card! Your XP will then reset to zero. XP can be carried over week to week as needed but resets after an achievement card is earned and at the beginning of a new month.
- If at any time the player’s actions warrant the need to remove their earned XP, such as rule breaking, bad behavior or bad choices, the “Reboot” card can be played. This will remove ALL current XP earned and reset the player to zero.
- If the player falls behind on their objectives/XP, the “Respawn” card can be played to allow the player to complete ONE incomplete objective to earn 1 XP. There are only 4 cards included for the entire month, use them wisely!
- If the player has a “Cheat Code” card, they may play this to skip ONE objective, while still earning XP for it. There are only TWO of these cards, use strategically!
- If the Gameplan has been followed exceptionally well, the “Side Quest” cards may be played at the adults disrecretion. This gives the player the possibility to earn even more XP if the side quest includes. Player be warned! Not all Side Quests must earn XP.
- If at any time the Gameplan is not being followed or the adult assigns any additional objectives outside of the mission log, the adult can play the "IRL System Override" card. This card is to be used at the adults discretion, for any reason deemed necessary, no "buts"!
🏁 Level Complete
Once the month is completed, reset your XP - new missions await! Remember: every mission completed brings you closer to leveling up IRL! Game on, IRL!
